Pedro Felix Leda started the Ledafilms S.A. television distribution and production company in Buenos Aires in mid 1974. Since then the company became the largest independent television programs distributor in Latin America with offices in Argentina and the United States (through its subsidiary, Independent International Television, Inc. (IIT), based in Los Angeles, California). Ledafilms has extensive experience as a representative of major North American and European producers. For over 22 years Ledafilms was a sales agent for Twentieth Century-Fox TV International for Latin America’s South Cone. In 1998 Ledafilms-IIT became the exclusive sales agent for DreamWorks International Distribution LLC, the producer of huge hits such as the blockbusters “Shrek”, “Madagascar”, “Meet the Parents”, “War of the Worlds”, “Dreamgirls”, “Kung Fu Panda” and “Monsters vs. Aliens” among many other successes. In late 2005, DreamWorks SKG was acquired by Viacom, a U.S. conglomerate that owned several companies including Paramount Pictures. Consequently, Ledafilms-IIT saw extended its sales agency agreement to include as well the distribution for Latin America Free Television Paramount’s theatrical new productions including titles such as “Transformers”, “Mission Impossible 3”, “Indiana Jones IV” (a Lucasfilm co-production), “Iron Man”, “Star Trek” in addition to an extensive library that includes over 1,600 pictures. In May 2008 Ledafilms-IIT were appointed by Lucasfilm Ltd. as exclusive sales agents for distribution in Latin America Free Television for their new series, \"Star Wars: The Clone Wars,\" which premiered in the U.S. with great success on Cartoon Network and, within a few weeks, by Free TV broadcasters in 16 countries throughout the continent. Created by George Lucas and produced with high budget CGI animation, \"Star Wars: The Clone Wars\" opens with a Theatrical film released worldwide followed by the seasons for the TV series. International Distribution Company, IDC, who in joint venture with Summit Entertainment, had recently a phenomenal success with the theatrical and video distribution in Latin America with their box office hits such as “Knowing” (starring Nicolas Cage), “Michael Clayton” (starring George Clooney), “P.S. I Love You” (starring Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler), the animated pictures “Space Chimps” and “Astroboy” and the “Twilight” (starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) mega saga followed by “New Moon” and “Eclipse”. With the goal to maximize this success story also on Latin American television, IDC has appointed in early 2010 Ledafilms and IIT to help achieve this objective. At the same time, Ledafilms is the sales agent for Videx International; a company with almost 40 years of distribution experience, mostly for U.S. produced pictures, mini-series, series and specials. Over the years Ledafilms has been active in merchandising, theatrical and home video distribution, post-production as well as publishing of comic books. The company has also produced feature films for theatrical release, video and television. Co-produced with HBO Latin America and Argentina’s Telefe, the title \"My Son is a Genius\", this title was followed by the film documentary \"Nazi Gold in Argentina\", a docu-drama also co-produced with HBO Latin America. The next film \"Dangerous Obsession\", was another co-production with Argentina’s Telefe and Patagonik Film Group (at the time a Buena Vista (Disney) South American production company). In the last quarter of 2009 Ledafilms-IIT reached an agreement with the prestigious U.S. company Exim LLC, to jointly form BondiBand LLC. Exim has a successful track record of decades specializing in licensing, merchandising and production of character-based theater plays for children. BondiBand LLC will produce in 2010 a 52 episodes animated series of 15 minutes per episode for worldwide media distribution, including the international exploitation of all licensing, merchandising and ancillary rights arising out of this production. Ledafilms has won over the years many awards including a “Martin Fierro” in Argentina for best television program production and four “INTE” awards in the U.S. for best distribution company in Latin America. |
